The above patterns were all created by manipulating the motif (lower left). The left pattern was made first. I created the middle and right patterns as part of my wild west inspired garments. (Garments can be seen below.) Patterns were created using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

These digitally created textile designs were made by image tracing images I found or photographed myself. They were created using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. They were made in part of a digital layout project where my concept was based around the idea of fear. These textile patterns are meant to have an edgy or eerie tone to them. A couple of them contain imagery from my concept board ( which can be found at the end of the slideshow gallery).

My artist statement for this project can be summarized as: "Fear, while an unpleasant emotion to experience, is necessary to the human experience. It can either push us to face our phobias or it can cause us to completely shut down. Fear is an intricate emotion, it is complex. The genesis of fear has been studied for years by psychologists. There are many different explanations for the myriad of fears that people experience.

With this collection, I attempt to symbolize various fears. Through the wearing of the garment the fears are externalized, yet the wearer is also immersed in them. It emboldens the wearer and intimidates the viewer. It is a dichotomy of ideals."
